In March 2014 Atheist Meets were held in Mumbai and Pune This was probably the first time in the history of Maharashtra. These events were preceded by the cruel and wicked assassination of Dr Narendra Dabholkar on 20th August 2014 in Pune. All these events received overflowing responses. Total Attendance of the meets was about 500. Voluntary and mandatory contributions flowed in.
Mumbai event was organised in Mumbai University, Pherozshah Bhavan. Prof and Head Jose George gave a welcome speech.
Mumbai Event was chaired by veteran author, poet, and activist J.V.Pawar.
The session was inaugurated by Comrade Prakash Reddy The guest speakers included Dr Narendra Nayak President of the Federation of Indian Rationalists Association and Prof Babubhai Desai of Satyashodhak Sabha Gujrat.
Well known author Achyut Godbole attended and had an informal chat with the participants.
Pune Event
